Aging is the set of functional changes that progressively diminish the ability of the human body to perform its functions over time. It is a genetically programmed and scientifically unavoidable phenomenon; however several tips and habits can slow it down.

If you do not hold the secret of the elixir of eternal life or know the exact location of the fountain of youth, find out how to keep your body fresh, younger and functional much longer!

Through this article, we offer you tips to effectively fight against the wear of years.

  • Moisturize your skin:

First step to adopt to delay the appearance of the first wrinkles: hydration at high doses.

But among all the creams on the market, it’s hard to make a choice. The essential ingredients are antioxidants (vitamins C, E or selenium for example), which protect the skin from external aggressions, such as pollution or UV. The fruit acids are used to give a boost to the skin, thanks to the peeling effect they provide and the stimulation of the collagen production they allow.

Choose your skincare according to your skin type of course (nourishing for dry skin, mattifying for more mixed to oily) and consider using a complementary treatment for the risk area around the eye. Thinner and therefore more fragile, the skin is particularly vulnerable and it is often there that appear first wrinkles dehydration.

  • Adopt the scrubbing and the peeling:

Peeling and scrubbing are techniques that consist in “peeling” the skin to renew the upper layers of the epidermis.

They allow the removal of dead cells on your entire body. They also promote the absorption of the care products you use. The result is almost instantaneous, the skin becomes softer.

For scrubbing, here are the main techniques:

– To fight the crow’s feet, draw small circles around your eyes with your finger.

– To blur the horizontal lines of the forehead, make a repeated movement from the center of the forehead to the temples.

– For inter-eyebrow wrinkles, move from the nostrils to the maxillary bone, from the corner of the mouth to the maxillary bone, and from the center of the chin, always to the maxillary bone.

For the peeling, schematically, it works like scrubbing but in a much deeper way. This treatment can treat many small “imperfections” of the skin using a chemical process based on acids. Many people then use peeling to get rid of their wrinkles

And from the first use, the results are visible: the skin is smoothed. After 4 weeks, the epidermis is refined; spots and wrinkles are visibly reduced.

  •  A balanced and varied diet :

To build, renew and function well, the human body and especially the skin needs essential nutrients, such as vitamins (vitamin A, C and E which are antioxidants: they protect your skin by trapping free radicals that ‘ aggressively “) and trace elements (selenium, an antioxidant), copper (participates in elasticity of your skin), and zinc (promotes cell renewal and healing).

A balanced diet also brings you “good” fatty acids (omega 6 and especially omega 3).

  • Focus on low glycemic foods:

Excess consumption of high glycemic foods (also known as “fast sugar”) stimulates the production of excess insulin. This high level of insulin causes excessive sebum production, which blocks the pores of skin cells and therefore affects the skin’s condition.

Fast sugars also predispose to diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome. These three pathological states cause faster aging of our tissues by various mechanisms (microcirculation disorders, endocrine …).

For that:

– Choose slow sugars with fast sugars.

– Choose whole grains (whole meal bread, whole rice); their fiber content promotes a low glycemic index.

– Consume more vegetables.

Limit sweets like cookies, sweets, sodas, and others.

  • Focus on certain foods:

To fight against the appearance of wrinkles, it is important to take care of your diet. Choose foods rich in antioxidants, omega-3s and vitamins.

Antioxidants, found in spinach, red kidney beans, tomatoes or beetroot, are very effective in the fight against cell aging. This is why they are also recommended to prevent the appearance of certain cancers.

You’ll find omega-3s in fish like mackerel, salmon or sardines, and in some vegetable oils. These amino acids will allow your skin to maintain its suppleness and elasticity.

For vitamins, choose Vitamin A, which protects the skin from UV rays. This vitamin is found in butter, eggs or carrots. You will also be advised not to hesitate to consume products rich in vitamin C (oranges, grapefruit, kiwis, peppers …) and vitamin E (sunflower oil, hazelnuts, almonds …).

  •  Drink a lot of water :

Drink to hydrate your body but, also, to clean it and eliminate toxins and keep functional organs and healthy skin. The body needs 2 to 2.5 liters per day to work well.

Here are three rules to stay well hydrated:

  1. When you leave in the morning, take your bottle of water with you, for example a 1-liter bottle. Then try to move to a liter and a half.
  2. Drink at least 1 glass of water 20 minutes before each meal.
  3. If you cannot drink plenty of water, try herbal teas or green tea. These drinks also contribute to your hydration.

  • Protect yourself effectively from the sun:

UVA and UVB rays penetrating the skin cause lesions inside the cells, damaging the collagen and elastin fibers and thus causing a phenomenon of photo-aging (premature aging of the skin). To face its inconveniences, provide you with a sunscreen adapted to your type of skin to apply regularly avoiding exposures between 12h and 16h.

  •  Sleep well :

Scientifically proven, poor sleep speeds up aging. According to a study conducted in the United States, there is indeed a close relationship between sleep and aging of tissues. Good quality sleep gives organs, including the skin, a better ability to self-repair and recover from the stress they may experience.

  •  Having an active sexual life :

A study at the British Psychological Society, led by David Weeks, a neuro-psychologist at Edinburgh Hospital, showed that sport and sex are two key recipes for looking younger. In fact, regular physical activity and 3 sexual intercourses a week can make you look 7 to 12 years younger than the actual age.

  • Stop smoking :

It is not only to protect one’s skin that one must stop smoking, but it is important to remember that there is a link between smoking and skin aging. Many studies have shown that smoking promotes the appearance of wrinkles. In fact, tobacco causes oxidation of the cells and consequently an alteration of the epidermis.

But that’s not all, tobacco gradually damages microvessels. Blood circulation and oxygenation of the organs including the skin are therefore much less easy.

According to the National Union of Dermatologists, “every puff of cigarette smoke releases 200,000 free radicals that will attack skin cells and cause effects on the eye contour and facial skin as a whole.”

  •  Preserve yourself:

Pollution and alcohol are also factors that promote early aging. Indeed, all alter the cutaneous microcirculation and cause premature aging. Skin that becomes dry, dull and wrinkled in exposed people.

The advice to remember is that having a healthy lifestyle is the key to many problems…

  • Conclusion:

Aging is inevitable; however, all experts and physicians agree that a balanced lifestyle and diet is the basis to keep your mind and body healthy as long as possible!
